Lyness K9 Dog Training Packages

Dog Obedience One [On-leash]

In this course the majority of the training is done on-leash. However, the goal is always about working toward off-leash obedience. Beginning in your home, we work our way to more advanced settings such as parks, busy streets, and other animals. In addition to the typical rollover, speak and play dead, I also teach vital behaviors such as, wait, come, down, heel, leave it, place and boundaries. Tricks that are taught depend on your pet's individual aptitude. At the end of this course, your dog will be reliable in heavy distractions and will not rely on food rewards to obey promptly.

Dog Obedience Two [Off-Leash]

This course is for the difficult dog who may need more work than most dogs. Unaltered males, aggressive individuals, or clients with little time are some who qualify for this course. All commands will be worked off-leash with every distraction imaginable.

Service and Therapy Dog Training

Lyness K9 is proud to offer these two specialty types of training. Whether you are an individual with a disability or just want to make a difference in the lives of others who are, I can transform your pet in to a working dog. ALL candidates must be screened and evaluated prior to this complex form of training. These dogs must be completely friendly with EVERYONE.

After successful completion of several levels of training, you and your therapy dog can become certified as a working team, registered with Therapy Dogs International. Such teams may visit children's hospitals, nursing homes, senior centers, and anywhere the calming effect of a therapy dog is needed. It is truly a rewarding experience. Shutting the door, retrieving water from the refrigerator, and pulling your wheelchair are just a few of the many possibilities. After completion, your newly transformed pet may go virtually anywhere to assist you or help others.

Is your dog trained?

I frequently receive calls from pet owners who already have a "trained" dog. Take this simple quiz.

  1. Can your dog walk past other pets with out pulling or outbursts?
  2. Does your dog come to you reliably off of the leash?
  3. Can you request your pet to "place" or "down" successfully?
  4. Will your pet respond to you when distractions are present?
  5. Can your dog greet your guests WITHOUT jumping, barking, crotch sniffing, or aggressive behavior?

If you answer no to any of these questions your dog is not reliably trained.

What about your daily walks? Your dog should be able to walk by your side with the leash loose.

In many cases, getting Fido to come to you promptly while off the leash is the most challenging and rewarding command to accomplish. Nothing spells trained dog more than calling your dog away from a distraction, and receiving an instant response.

If you have difficulty with any of the described training issues, please contact me for help.

I bring my expertise to your home, a better solution to the unpleasant thought of sending your dog away. I also do all of the initial work.

I work with your dog between two and three times per week depending on my initial evaluation regardless whether you can be there our not. After the obedience foundation is laid, I will then work extensively with you reinforcing your skills.
